Cotton vs. Performance vs. Wool: Choosing a Custom Bowling Cap

The blank you choose matters as much as the logo on it. Cotton, performance polyester, and wool blends each feel different, wear differently, and suit different seasons. Here’s how to pick.

For most leagues, a cotton or poly-cotton twill is the sweet spot — but there are good reasons to reach for performance or wool.

Cotton & poly-cotton twill

The classic cap fabric: soft, breathable, and it takes embroidery cleanly. Poly-cotton blends add durability and hold their shape a little better. This is the default for league caps and house programs because it balances feel, look, and cost.

Performance polyester

Moisture-wicking and quick-drying, performance blanks suit hot summer leagues, outdoor charity opens, and bowlers who run warm. They keep a crisp structured shape and pair naturally with snapbacks and athletic styling.

Wool & wool blends

Wool-blend caps carry a heritage, throwback look — think classic ballpark style. They feel premium and photograph beautifully, which makes them a strong pick for limited-edition or award caps, though they sit at the higher end on price.
